Katie Yoshihara is a student whose accomplishments reflect not only academic excellence, but also resilience, leadership, and a genuine commitment to her community. Katie has challenged herself throughout her time at South High School with rigorous coursework while balancing athletics, leadership, volunteer service, and a part-time job. She has maintained an impressive weighted GPA of 4.23 and ranks among the top students at South High. Her passion for science and helping others has inspired her future goal of pursuing a career in public health, where she hopes to make a positive impact on society. Beyond academics, Katie has made meaningful contributions to both her school and community. She has served in ASB and student leadership, participated in Best Buddies and Connect Club, volunteered at Seaside Heroes Park cleanups, and dedicated herself to South High athletics as a four-year varsity cross-country and track athlete — serving this year as captain of the varsity cross-country team. Katie’s teachers and coaches describe her as hardworking, compassionate, and deeply supportive of others around her. Katie’s dedication and positive impact on those around her truly embody the spirit of this scholarship. 

Brady Spak is a student whose accomplishments reflect exceptional academic achievement, leadership, innovation, and service to others. Brady attends St. John Bosco High School and has completed numerous AP courses (including 5 AP classes during his Senior year alone) while maintaining an outstanding weighted GPA of 4.58. His passion for engineering, robotics, and computer science has led him to pursue a future in robotics and electrical and computer engineering. Beyond academics, Brady has immersed himself in leadership and extracurricular involvement. He serves as co-captain of the St. John Bosco robotics team, president of the ASB Executive Board, and has been deeply involved in cybersecurity, photography, and athletics, including four years of varsity lacrosse, and serving as the team’s captain for the past 3 years. Brady has also used his talents to mentor younger students, support teammates, and contribute to both his school and broader community. His teachers describe him as intelligent, selfless, and an inspiring leader. Brady’s drive, leadership, and commitment to making a difference truly embody the spirit of this scholarship.
